movie: the invite

ok so saw this last night. 4.5 stars.

first movie in a while that felt like a movie. i found out afterward it was shot on film so that helped. it looked so good! but it clearly wasn't written for that shitty young male dumbass demographic that wrecks so much stuff.

i have a few quibbles but they're really tiny things. i liked rogan but found it took me a few minutes to get past the rogan of it all. wilde is great. cruz is immaculate as always. norton is (no surprise) fantastic.

it was surprisingly funny! like i know it's a comedy but i'm not really one for tension comedy and there was a bunch of that in this... and yet! i really liked it! seeing it in a theatre with other people's a good idea. ours wasn't sold out but there were a lot of people there and there was a lot of laughter.

there's no soft middle here either. you think at one point there might be but then the movie steps on the gas again. it ends well.

it's hillarious but also sneakily devastating. go see it.
