how to embrace vulgarity

i guess what differentiates contemporary conservatism is that these cons have full embraced vulgarity in a way i find distasteful and offputting. in their race to make everything muscular and oilslicked they've cast off any notion of refinement or elegance or even sophisticated.

everything is loud and ugly and shallow.

growing up the cons i knew were dedicated to a sort of genteel and polite posture (though this may just be the canadian substrate of it all). dress well. don't swear. don't point.

this new generation takes all the ugliness and hollowness of american rightwing culture and injects adrenaline and testosterone. what's the love child of a state fair and a suburban strip mall? and who the hell wants to go to there?

the problem is they don't really seem to like their own culture. they barely watch their own movies. they don't attend their own president's cheap and nugatory birthday party. they seem to accept that their culture just exists to pwn the libs and that's enough.
