how to be subsumed into the superstructure
almost everything runs on vibes now.
i mean maybe that was always the case but was it tho? there used to be a limit to the sort of bullshit emperor's-new-clothes you could do because reality was an everpresent spectre slash companion. you could transpose yourself into narrative space for only so long before you hit the wall.
we postmodernists have built upon our forebears' modernist blessings [that is to say nascent shuntings into a superstructure where reality is at the very least alleviated as if it were a disease].
of course--of course!--reality is still there in the background like the hum of some rustbound and forgotten turbine cranking away after all this time providing the juice to keep the whole project running. but! and this is an important but! you can now claim that the very vaccines that prevent [maybe] you from being in an iron lung for the rest of your life [again! maybe!] are themselves a toxic slew of mercury and aborted fetal tissue and you'll get away with it. just... you won't die. because though reality is still there it's mediated by a complex web of other people not being morons and institutions that hold this all together and just sheer luck.
modern fascismo is all about this [by the by]. they are utterly detached from reality. huxters and scammers and confolk all. they have no plan. they want to control everything but they don't have any way to measure anything. they simply can't do what they want to do because they're so goddamn stupid. genuinely. they rely on the grey men to instrumentalize their biddings. bureaucrats who can shape the slobberings of our strongmen into actual policy and have it enacted by that everpresent 20% of sludge that settles the bottom of the kettle and wants to more than anything crack some skulls and shoot some mothers and kill and maim and let themselves finally [finally!] burst into buzzing droning screaming orgasmic war frenzy they've been teetering towards their entire pathetic useless lives.
vanity of vanity--all is vibes.
how did we make it this far? the people in our boardrooms and agencies don't know if anything they do does any good. they can't measure the results of what they're trying to do. they're lost in the story. they're drowning in the narrative. they're melting their brains performing competence in a play where competence and gibberish are tweedledee and tweedledum.
where are the adults? certainly this cannot be them! certainly.
and yet.
