how to be enbodied
your body doesn't understand your goals.
that's weird, right? this thing you call "you" is supposed to be driving the boat but there's so much unconscious and automatic stuff going on that it's really hard to say you're actually at the wheel.
to be quite fair you don't want to have to think about your heart beating but it sure would be nice to explain to your cells that no actually we have a steady supply of all the food we could ever want and we don't need the extra stores.
so instead we turn to peptides to get the message across.
that's weird too, right? our bodies cannot be communicated with directly; instead there's these amino acids and they talk for us. except that once the amino acids are gone so too are the effects. the body just goes back to doing what it wanted to do anyways.
i have a little spike of weird hard skin between my fingers. it bothers me. i can feel it. even though it's tiny so it's princess and the pea stuff for sure. i've tried everything short of slicing off part of my finger to get rid of it. it always grows back.
how does it remember? who the hell knows. i'd love to be able to march foremanlike down to the site of this monstrosity and give the machinery a talking to, but i can't. i just have to live with removing this thing every couple of weeks. or getting cosmetic surgery of some kind.
to be truly embodied would be to have access to things you just don't have access to. the ability to control the uncontrollable. or to not have a "you" at all. animals don't think about these things (i hope).
