how to aircondition your way out of global warming
i've heard we can't aircondition our way out of global warming from some (putative) europeans online and i have to agree.
i'm sure there's a larger context here i'm not aware of where europe has antipathy towards a.c. for reasons that are not simply structural (why after all would newlybuilt hospitals not include a.c. by default).
but we can't a.c. our way out of g.w.--while being entirely true--also entirely misses the point. you're not a.c.ing your way out of global warming. you're a.c.ing your way out of needless death and needless quality of life degradation.
i don't understand this sort of stubborn kicking against the goads. the facts on the ground are the facts on the ground and the facts on the ground are that things are much hotter now than they were fifty years ago.
you will need to adapt. regardless of what you do to limit emissions. the heat is already here! no a.c. doesn't roll back the clock!
you will need a boatload of clean energy. absolutely. for sure. thankfully i think--i think!--china may be able to help.
killing people with heat won't stop global warming.
